Cambelt and water pump change.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've recently bought a 1.6 petrol 2007 Fiesta Zetec S. The previous owner wasn't sure if the Cambelt had been changed so I want to get it done along with the waterpump. I've been quoted around £300 for the cambelt to be changed but the garage is saying that the waterpump isn't ran off the cambelt on this car so it wont need to be changed.

As far as I'm aware with this model it is?

I can't find anything online about usual costs and if the waterpump is driven by the cambelt. If someone could advise that would be great 🙂

Thanks,

Luke

They're right, the waterpump is driven by the aux belt on this engine (and all of the Zetec petrol engines, 1.25/1.4/1.6) not the cambelt.  It's up to you whether you have it changed at the same time or not.

£300 sounds a reasonable price as long as that includes parts and VAT.

I have a 2007 petrol Zetec S, and I had water pump and all belts changed when I bought it in 2017. I think the Ford cambelt kit actually includes the water pump ?

Tha car is 13 years old, and if you are doing the cambelt, it seems a false economy not to do all the belts.
