So today I had one USB with 320K Mp3 and another with flac files just to see if I could really tell in the car.

Suffice to say 1tb SSD ordered and flac all the way from now on in the car.

interesting Ford cope with this idea.

I had a BM with USB connection and the stick couldn't cope but the ipod was perfect (same audio files on both stick and ipod  .WAV)

after 5 seconds from turning the key ipod always works with no menu navigation lag, no bugs, no silliness.

the stick would randomly behave ….  (64 gig usb 2 with 55 gig on it) on its best behaviour, if on the USB input, it always played straight away but you had no ability to change for first 20 seconds before the stick and the car got on with life

on its bad days there would be no interaction for up to 20 minutes.  sometimes it would do it in 20 seconds stop at the paper shop and then get muddled for 20 minutes.  Another day might be OK for hours or another day 20 mins on start up but Ok after filling with petrol.   The bigger the stick and the bigger the files, the more it had these random 20 minute episodes... Car was running latest software for everything on the car.

I'm now a little concerned the the SSD is going to work properly, as I had a 128gb stick with 25000 mp3 files and it worked flawlessly. on first insertion it would index all  files in under 30 mins, and then all voice commands worked fine.

Put the SSD in and at first attempt didn't find all the files, did do on second go, but it's taking forever to index, been driving for over an hour last night and nothing is index and no voice commands, no artist, albums of the like in the search menus. I'm hoping it's just because flac files are so much bigger and will take more time.

Not sure if I should really have just got a 1tb USB stick or stuck to the mp3's

If I browse device everything is there and I checked it would play my DSD files and flac files and played fine.

its why a said buy a cheap phone...

they structure stuff in a way the simple brain on the car can cope with.   The (I guess) windows file structure is some bottomless pit of doom and the car gets a muddle on

Don't even know what format it is but I copied all my CDs onto a stick about 10 years ago via a couple of ancient PCs (one running XP, the other Vista) adding new albums over the years. It has worked with no issues at all in 2 Mk 7 Fiestas, a Mk 2.5 Focus, a Mk 2 C-Max and now a Mk 8 Fiesta😀

My SSD said media not available this morning, so formatted it at work and put a maybe 100 mp3 on and it worked perfectly on the way home.

I'm now thinking I may have a corrupted flac file and that's what tripped sync up.

So follow up about my SSD, I got a 1TB Sandisk Extreme SSD, put my flac, wav and dsd files on (about 25000) that didn't work, so copied my iTunes music folder to the drive aiff, m4a and acc files.

Plugged it in and sync said indexing,  sync keep crashing. Unpluged the SSD and sync works ok so far, so it's back to mp3 and a USB stick.

One SSD now redundant and about to lost over time in the back of a cupboard 😥

get a modern phone that takes a memory card and shove it on there and use bluetooth .... £50 quid i'll do it

my experience with USB sticks is the car struggles to cope, whereas an ipod or phone structures the files in some random gobbledegook the car likes and it responds faster and more happily - (not based on Ford.... but the idea why it will probably struggle is the same)….

My 2015 titanium plays mp3s fine (pity I cant do Flacs (I wonder if there's a firmware update) from a usb stick, howerever it's utterly stupid. It can't play files within a folder in content order; "play all" plays all of the files on the stick regardless of folder structure, it can play by the title, artist, album tags but ignores the track numbers and plays things alphabetically by title - what a wind up! the thing is unusable.

Depends on the MP3 TAG info containing track number, does it?

I suspect sync 2 only sees the old type mp3 tag, cant use better quality.wav - no tags at all. I'll see if writing to (type2?) old tag as well fixes it. Regardless the system is still stupid when it comes to handling file/folder system on memory sticks. I have a hi-res audio player which I'll use instead via line-in but I can't safely us it in whilst in motion.

Can sync2 be updated to sync3 via firmware?
