So i have just bought a 2018, Ford fiesta. I want to know if i will be able to download Sync 3.4. It looks to me a lot more modern, and would be a great addition. 

No you have to put the 3.4 version on the car Not for download on the 2018 model year.

You can, but it's not supported by Ford, you'd have to "hack" it on.

It won't be offered as an update assuming you have a Sync 3.0 car, we don't know if Ford will update Sync 3.2+ cars yet.

Different partitioning system, they are totally different software packages for Sync 3.0 and 3.2+.

Ok well mine has 3.0 2018 year. Shame they can’t keep updating it 

Is there a huge amount of difference between the updates? Am I missing out? 

It's only a reskin really, so just the visual changes.

I don't like 3.4 in night mode, it doesn't go fully black, always a shade of blue.

Ford have still been updating both forks of software.

That's very disappointing. My Sync3.0 2018 won't get an equivalent update? That's a bit poor for a car that's less than 2 years old. They really ought to provide some material upgrades for this version, I've been hoping for some better theme/skin options - the standard light blue interface looks incredibly amateurish.

I think I’ve heard it unofficially referred to as Sync 2.5.

I think Sync 2.5 is slightly visually different to “full fat” Sync 3. I think it looks like the picture below?

We have the 8" screen, but it looks like that.  Just rechecked the brochure and it says only the Nav in Sync 3.

Oh well, at least that means I need to read the other part of the owners manual!!!!!

My car is Sync 3.3, the Mrs is Sync 3.0.

Hers is in for 2yr service shortly, we have been told they will be performing a software and map update for us also, while it is there.

Will see what it comes out with.

Yeah I think Ford dropped the smaller touchscreens, so I guess non nav will get the 2.5 on the 8 inch. Mine has Nav and looks different to that so obviously has Sync 3.

I have nav version and update took about 50min.

Now I have finnish launguage etc. and everything went smoothly.😀

What are the main differences between Sync 3.0 and 3.4? Can you control the heater with it, or am I thinking of other cars (possibly Focus)?

The Gracenote ^® music database works with SYNC ^® with MyFord Touch ^®-equipped vehicles to improve voice recognition for music searches and let drivers pinpoint bands, artists, and albums with hard to pronounce names, nicknames, and irregular spellings.

It also interferes with album art and track orders making the music library a right mess.
