Climate control buttons

Hi can anyone tell me what the auto button does, as in it has three modes looking at the lights above?

also which buttons are for heated windscreen, I can see the bottom middle looks like the front windscreen but the rear screen buttons have a different icon if you look close.

thanks

Auto keeps temperature at set level, the three levels are simply a limiter if the blower speeds.
heated windscreen is at the bottom of the pic

I'm forever hitting the wrong button. Just to expand on the above, the left top "screen"  button is heated rear window, the middle is max defrost and the right button directs airflow to the screen vents.

Personally I just leave it on "auto" and only intervene if it's really icy when I would use max defrost (which also switches on the front and rear screens, which stay on for a set period after you switch max defrost off).

Isn't this shown in the owners manual....?

I would think so, but I’m at work and thought I would ask.

Wonder why the front and rear heated screen buttons have different patterns, front screen one has an electric zig zag which makes sense but the rear button has a blower icon like the central buttons, odd.

Yep, the answer is R.T.F.M.

If your car doesn't have one (it should) then https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/my-vehicle/download-your-manual
