Mk6 1.25 ABS Module

Featured Replies

Looking for help working out the issue on my MK6 (06) fiesta 1.25
Sometime towards the end of last year my battery died and i got it health checked and the efficiency was very low so i decided to replace it as i wasnt sure how old it was. A couple months after replacing my ABS, handbrake light came on and the speedo stopped working, initially i thought it was a wheel speed sensor, soon after the car failed to start. I checked the voltage on the battery and i was getting 1.9V to my surprise i jump started and drove it around for a while to allow it to charge, 1 week later the same happened i had started it a few times in the week. I checked the voltage when the car was running and was getting 13.8V+ even under load so i assumed the alternator is not at fault. after turning the car off the battery maintained a voltage around 12.2-12.8V Since then its been a few weeks and hasnt died, however i am still having issues with the ABS etc. I have a feeling it is a faulty battery but it hasnt died since and the voltages seem okay so is it possible it was just the cold affecting that and the ABS is a coincidence? With the ignition on and engine off i have some trouble with forscan on reading codes etc and analysing data, i am unable to see ive data for ABS whilst engine is running. However i checked the live data of the wheel speed sensors with the engine off and it seems to register the speed on the sensors which are the same on all 4 wheels. I was thinking about replacing the ABS module but the cost is significant and i understand buying it used means it will need reprogramming? The problem is sometimes intermittent and the lights go out and the speedo works which makes me think there could be a bad connection or the battery at fault. GSF are claiming they have to send the battery away for it to be tested and i would have to buy a new one which will be refunded if the other is faulty but if not stuck with 2 batteries. Tried local Indy garage which i normally trust to which they charged me £60 to tell me that they couldnt clear the codes or find the issue so brought someone in who could clear the codes and did that. Current codes i have on forscan are :

Would it be best to change out the battery again and try that first?

===PCM DTC U0121-E0===
Code: U0121 - Lost Communication With The ABS Control Module

Status:

 - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is On for this DTC

Module: Powertrain Control Module

===END PCM DTC U0121-E0===

===PCM DTC P1000-70===
Code: P1000 - On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Systems Readiness Test Not Complete

Status:
 - DTC Present at Time of Request
 - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC
 - Test not complete

Module: Powertrain Control Module

Diagnostic Trouble Code details

Check of all systems is not complete since last memory clear.

--Possible Causes--
    - The vehicle is new from the factory and has not yet been through a complete OBD Drive Cycle.
    - The battery or PCM has been disconnected.
    - An OBD monitor failure had occurred prior to completion of an OBD Drive Cycle.
    - The PCM DTCs have been cleared as part of a service process.

Note: The only way P1000 can be cleared (removed) from memory is when all of the OBD monitors have been successfully completed during normal vehicle operation.

P1000 cannot be cleared from the PCM when: 1. The thermostat is stuck open and a DTC is not generated. 2. There is an open VSS circuit and a DTC is not generated. 3. If the vehicle has a Power Take Off (PTO), the circuit is shorted to VPWR or B+, or the PTO is ON during Self-test.

The purpose of the Diagnostic Trouble Code DTC P1000 is to indicate that not all of the On Board Diagnostics OBD monitors have yet been successfully completed.  You may also refer to the OBD Drive Cycle defined under the Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnosis Manual-Diagnostic Methods or the Owner's Manual.

Remember: It is not necessary to remove P1000 from the Powertrain Control Module PCM by driving the vehicle.
