Durashift EST warning light on a manual car

My fiesta suddenly lost power and went into limp mode, the durashift EST warning light came on.

I drove it in limp mode until I could pull over safely, stop the car, checked the manual....which told me nothing.

When I restarted it the warning light was gone and car drove fine.

Now just before the journey the car won't start, battery is on the way out, do I had to jump it.

Why does my car have durashift warning system when it's a manual gearbox, and would the problem relate to a buggered battery
