Brake caliper bolt won't come off

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 05 fiesta st just in the process of removing the rear passenger side brake caliper and one of the bolts won't come off, any ideas?

It's ouvbously a little rusty but dirty too, just have no idea what to do as I will end up rounding the bolt off?

Penetrating fluid, Big breaker bar (if you can get it in otherwise hammer), 6 point socket instead of 12 point.

If it's really stuck then get some heat on it.

Heat and then rapidly cool by pouring cold water on it, that will often shock release a seized bolt. DO NOT try it with a breaker bar before doing anything else and even then go steady as you may shear the bolt, then you'd be in real trouble.
