Quaife LSD for the ST

Featured Replies

Hi all

I’ve been on the lookout for a quaife diff to put in the ST, and brand new on eBay they’re about £800.

A used one has just show up for a great price, but it’s coming from America so really if it’s not spot on I won’t really be able to return it economically and get it refunded.

I don’t have an issue buying second hand car parts, but a diff is something I don’t know much about. What questions should I be asking the seller and what are the risks/weak spots/signs that I should leave it with this part?

thanks

I'd want to know how much power was being put through it, if they'd remapped the car.

Also it's intended to be serviced as part of the gearbox routine maintenance. I'm not sure what the gearbox oil change interval was, but I'd check if it had been done as scheduled.

Reply from the seller is that it was in one of two production racing STs. Had about 320hp going through it, although each car ran both a Drexler and a Quiafe diff throughout so it won't have been in constant use certainly. Factory run car, so it will always have had all the right maintenance and prep.

A bit concerned at the race use...although the factory maintenance is a plus point. Also the price is great and maybe reflects the usage. Still undecided...

On the 21st mountune have their open day, they usually have 10-15% off everything their and online so a new one would be about £650.

have a look at mfactory diffs from Collins performance which are similar to the quaiffe and slightly cheaper.
