Clutch Lift Off Jerk/Thud

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a 2011 Fiesta WT with 55k miles on the clock.

Recently, the clutch has stated making some "thumping" and jerking action/noises when I lift off the clutch.  Only seems to happen in low gears.

I know the Fiesta is known for some backlash/jerking in low gears, but this has come on suddenly and is very noticeable

I have done some research and some folk have mentioned the lower engine mount.  So I will inspect that.

Just wondering if anybody else has had this?

Thanks

Very common for the rear gearbox mount (also known as a torque link) to perish on these. Had the same issue with my car, the engine basically tries to twist causing it to rock and create the thumping noise you are hearing. Not saying it is 100% your issue but it could be that mounting.
