I'm having trouble figuring out where to wire the red and black cables for the light, I can't seem to use the little cross over with the blue black and earth cable. Should I cut the whole thing off and wire it directly?

    The earth can connect to the same earth point as the socket itself.

    The live needs to go onto an illumination feed, a wire from the back of the radio or headlight switch would suffice unless you already have an unused illumination feed wire tucked back under the console.
