Diesel Particulate Filter

Featured Replies

i am being asked increasingly more at work about the Diesel Particulate Filters fitted to the newer engines, and as of today, standard on all fiesta diesels commissioned after today. the fuel additive tank is located under the car and requires a special additive, currently only available from Ford themselves(god only knows i have tried to source this elsewhere as its £165 for 5 litres of the stuff)

the diesel additive must be refilled at your 37,500 service otherwise your warranty for the catalyst and anything affected by this, i.e sensors etc is VOID. also Ford stipulate that the DPF must be changed for a new unit after 75,000 miles

a dealer will normally charge around £99 to refill the DPF tank as it does not hold as much as a bottle has in it

i hope you all take this as a warning that ford are tightening up on their warranty even more and i also hope that if will benefit you in the coming years

stop it you're scaring my wallet :o

Do you suspect the reason Ford will not release just what the ‘special additive’ is to get around the new regs on anyone being able to service your car these days as long as they use OE parts, meaning you still need to get your car serviced at a main dealer?

I think from the original post, only cars built from today have the filter and need this tank topping up - if thats the case your wallet can calm down

the fiesta diesel engines do now have a dpf whereas they didnt before, this is due to ford upgrading them to stage V emissions for the newewr EU reguilations due to come out at some point.
