Ford Focus Mk 3 Heater Control problem tech needed.

Featured Replies

Hi guy I am need of some help with my Ford Focus Mk3 1.0 ecoboost 2013. I’m having a issue with the heater it’s not working I took it to ford they said it was the heater control panel I fitted another but it’s  the same. Then another garage said it’s the bcm so I had another fitted still the same! So I decided to take a look with the help of the wiring diagrams in the sticky from this great site but I have got stuck. It appears that I don’t have ignition switch live or illumination to the panel. After looking at the wiring I have got to thisC0FEB0D2-95F5-462D-BDE5-2DCF9E9B9911.thumb.jpeg.c029efada015367228ff6877e54e07dc.jpeg
I’m looking for Sp565 and Sp547 are these multi plug connections? If so can anyone tell me the location? The heater blower works fine on all settings but the heat air flow control and ac recirc button do nothing. I powered up pin 15 on the heater control which then get the recirc and air con button working. Seem like a bad unplugged connector somewhere.

Cheers

SP xxx are splices, additional spliced wires are not always shown on the diagram which makes the splice look pointless.

Dan62 thanks for the reply any idea where I can find these sliced connections at all?

Older Ford diagrams gave locations like "Behind Dash Panel" but reality of finding the splice is tough as they're integral to the loom.
Best suggestion I have is to search the diagram for other end points of the splice and check that point functions, then cut and splice a new wire to the point that is missing.

Hi thanks for the reply I can’t see 2 splices coming apart really.

I’ve run wires direct from the bcm ign and illuminate pins to the heater control panel pins 15 and pin 1 and now the illumination works and recirculated and ac buttons light up but still no hot air or allow to change the air flow settings. Can anyone else advise where I can look? Would like to get it sorted is freezing without the heater.

Yes, its odd that 2 feeds are missing that you have managed to rewire to get working.

As for air flow and temp.have you got battery voltage on heater module connector pin 14 ?

Hi yes it is strange and yes pin 14 has battery voltage. It appears that the signal is not getting to the heater box to move the flaps etc.

Did you ever find the fix for this?  I have a 2013 focus doing the same thing.  No hot / cold change and no mode change.  I think the dead battery spiked something electronic.
