Bought a 53 plate because the was a cheap runabout 50k miles, took it to a local garage when i bought it and had it checked over. Few small leaks, power steering leak, oil leak, which I’ve been topping up. They never said anything was seriously wrong with the car. Few odd jobs.

recently took it to Kwik fit as they do free checks, the guy rang me and said the power assisted steering pipes so rusted that it’s pourous, saying it’s  dangerous etc etc. Apperently the pipes come in 4 pieces, 2 of mine Need sorted but said the whole lot will have to be replaced altogether. And told me the parts will have to be bought from Ford as they can’t be bought off ebay or from car part sites etc. He rang me back later and said ford had told him it would cost £850. I said what if You showed me the parts that I need? Then I could see if they’re cheaper on eBay? He wasn’t very helpful.

i know nothing about cars, or what parts I need. Only had the car 3 months so I was wanting it to last a bit longer. 

Does £850 sound like an accurate price? Surely there’s has to Be a cheaper solution

Get a second opinion from another local gargage. Might save you a lot of money.
