Fiesta mk5 no crank no start

Featured Replies

My 2003 1.3 ford fiesta doesn’t crank or start. It started yesterday after 5 months of standing without any problems and it was used for about 5 minutes. Today the car also started fine but after 5 minutes of driving the engine shut down. It started again but after a minute it shut down again and it doesn’t even crank. I suspect its the fuel pump but shouldn’t it crank even if the fuel pump doesn’t work?

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Could well be the battery after standing for all that time.

When you turn the key to the starting position do you get any clicking. Do lights etc work? If you put lights on and the turn key to the start position do lights go dim

There are couple of clicks when turning it to start position. Lights work fine and they dont get dimmer

Check the fuel pump fuse, I had the same issue after leaving the car unstarted for a couple of weeks. Popped the fuse for the pump for some reason.

As Bob says, the battery is flat and it needs a full charge. Also put some new fuel in it and as Nick says check the pump fuse. I think it is F15 behind the glove box. Fuel pump relay fuse 20A.
