How serious is this damage?

Featured Replies

Hi there, I know it's not that smart to ask to judge fixing costs from photos, but in your own opinion what is the worst case scenario for this damage?2115963118_2stcopy.thumb.jpg.f1f74ea8ab610e6ecfe4ddefcb15bfe3.jpg1st.thumb.jpg.393c1c5980cee3bf0857387c1dce1145.jpg

Impossible to say just from the pictures. Does it start and go into gear properly without warning lights on the dash ? What is the liquid on the floor ? If any airbags or seatbelt pre-tensioners have been activated then that's a whole new (and expensive) issue.

Thanks for the input, Matt. The car was on the auction, so I have very limited info about it. It says the engine starts, but there is no indication if it runs & drives (I'm not sure they even tried putting it into gear, considering the damage). The airbags are alright, but since the driver's seat belt looks loose, it's likely the pre-tensioner is blown. The liquid looks more like water, there is a lot of it around the all car in other pictures.

Just visually looking mechanically I would say minimum of: -

Wishbone, strut, driveshaft, possibly a wheel and worse case if it's bent the subframe a new one of those!

If it was easy to fix; they'd have done it. I wouldn't consider buying it unless you go there and thoroughly inspect it first.

Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.
