A fun new noise!

Featured Replies

Any ideas, I feel it's coming from the axle beam bushes but they have no movement. I was going to try a squirt of silicon?

Could be the front anti roll bar bushes.

You changed the rear dampers & springs ? Looks like you have!

If so then did you renew the upper rubber/foam insert when you renewed the springs ? Should have!

Also did you fully tighten up the bottom bolt on the dampers whilst the car was off the ground ? Shouldn't have! This is maybe the twisting noise you are hearing of the rubber bush, If so then slacken the bottom bolt right off, jack the car back up, remove the bolt from the damper from the bottom only, fit damper back, refit bolt but DO NOT TIGHTEN UP, lower the car back down until it's fully back on it's wheels, then re-tighten the damper bolt......Hopefully the noise has gone.

Worn out axle beam bushes usually makes a clunking noise as you drive along.

Nasty! Did the springs come with new anti-creak sleeves? On the Mk3 Mondeo, they're a neoprene sleeve that fit over the bottom coil where it contacts the thing it sits on, check on www.catcar.info if they exist on your model.
