Battery issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had a flat battery last week after driving my car with no issues for around 20 mins only a couple hours before this happened. I hadn’t left any lights on or anything and don’t have a dashcam or anything like that, the only thing I have is a Viper 106 Immobiliser, unsure if this could be draining the battery? The report left by the AA man didn’t provide much detail apart from this “alternator charging at 14.5v. When the engine first started the alternator was only putting out 13.5v and was like that for roughly 3mins before going up to 14.5v.“ And he thought there maybe something draining the battery, he advised me to take it into the garage for this. I also have a print out of the test ran on the battery which I can upload if needed.

Anyone any idea why this might have occurred?

Car is a 15 reg Fiesta ST180.

Thanks

Did the report say the battery is fine? If so you may have a parastatic drain or an alternator issue.

Having said that if it's been fine since last week you'll struggle to diagnose any issue now.

Strange as I’m thinking with mine it may just need a new battery however I doubt this is the case with a 2019 reg!
