Abandoned Ford Puma

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,
There is this really sad looking Ford Puma from the late 90's that needs some loving that lives near me. (Glasgow)

If it’s got the 1.7 engine I would have that

I bet it'll be absolutely rotten...

I reckon less rotten from having sat there on the stones for a while rather than driving around on the wet, salty roads with all the spray?

It is registered as SORN and it's last MOT ran out 19th August 2016 so it's been off the road for 3 years and 8 months. It has a 1.4 petrol engine.

In a perfect world and if it was properly cleaned before being left parked then maybe.  But in reality it was probably parked there with the underside caked in mud & salt...  Then as the seals perish around the doors, lights and sunroof they left in water which rots them from the inside out as well.  The area around the fuel tank always rusts on these too.  And that's just the metal parts....bushes, bearings, pipes and tyres are probably all knackered after being sat there for 4 years now.

Driving around and splashing through puddles cleans some of that salt off, much better to do that than just leave it.

My Grandad had an old car picked up by the scrap man after leaving it for so long that it was beyond repair...the chassis snapped in half when it was picked up!!

Eurgh, definitely scrap it then! The 1.7 was the only one worth having in the Puma.

The MOT history is shocking tbh.  Last MOT is very suspicious as well, suddenly went from needing lots of work, to not even a single advisory and they couldn't even be bothered to put the mileage in...  That's a dodgy MOT if I've ever seen one!

AAAAaaand now I'm on autotrader looking for a 1.7 Puma. Being on this forum is dangerous to my wallet.
