Electric window

Featured Replies

Hi all, hope everyones coping ok in this madness that's going on,

I have an issue with my passenger side window (2009 mk7) that goes up and down ok if I hold the button in but it stops half way same level as my rear windows wont go any further, if anyone has had tha issue and fixed it, any help/advice will be appreciated

Sounds like you need to reset the limit, if I remember correctly you need to edge up,the windo till you get to the top then hold the switch for 20seconds

So open the window and then edge it up to its closed position (is that by hand or switch/button) then hold the switch for 20s and that should make it go all the way down after the reset

How to reset it is in the owners manual

Tried that and it didn't work still stops half way

Cheers mate I tried it a few times and it wouldnt go up or down, tried again then back to half way, I tried it with the drivers and passenger side switch, I can hear a click when I'm resetting but it still wont go all the way down,

Tried numerous things but still stops at the half way mark like the rear windows, do you think it could be a mechanical issue, motor ect if so how would I fix it

So it won't go to the bottom even if you hold the button or try edging it slowly?

Does it move more slowly than the other windows and 'groan' to the stuck point, or does it shoot down as you'd expect with no unusual noises?

Hello i have had something similar or like this , my rear ones when i pressed to go up it went so far then came back slightly., then press switch again moves about inch up n down , ended cleaning channels out etc n works now ,at the time car was dusty dry weather windows were gritty .

Works exactly the same as my drivers side only it stops half way, same level as my rear windows, no squeaks, groans or sticking, just stops at the halfway point and goes no further other than that it works fine

I haven't took the door panel of to have a look I'm a little hesitant to do it incase I break something, I was thinking it could be something stuck that's stopping it going down but I'd hear the motor if that was the case, its as if it's not supposed to go fully down even tho I know they do

Very odd!  It doesn't sound like the window is getting tight in the seals anywhere, or the motor is getting worn, or the cables are getting stiff.

The reset procedure everyone else is quoting is for the automatic 'one touch' windows, not for this.  Do you even have one-touch on the passenger side?  Will depend on trim level.

Bit of a long shot, but you could try disconnecting the battery.  That will reset all windows and you'll have to set the one-touch ones again afterwards.  You can also try spraying some lube down the side window channels with the window down as far as it'll go.

Otherwise I'm afraid you will have to pull the door panel for a proper visual.

Yeah it's not the one touch that's the issue I have reset both sides a few times, passenger I have to keep the button pressed driver side is as it should be, I was thinking of disconnecting battery to try that iv never done that before tho, I'll use some lube down the channels see if that makes  difference dont thin it will tho

Got it all fixed took it round to a guy and just paid him to do it, was a wire being snagged and stopped the window and cutting the indicators off
