Bluetooth causing intermittent battery drain

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is anyone aware of an issue whereby the Bluetooth doesn’t turn off on the car when the engine does and stays connected to the device overnight, resulting in a 2.5amp drain and a brand new Ford battery going dead overnight? Have had my car in Ford and the local mechanic and the only thing we can think is causing this is that. Have read online that it has happened but unsure which Fords/which years this affected. My car is a 2015 Fiesta ST-2 180bhp.

Also, is anyone aware of a fix for this? Ford don’t seem to have a software update for it according to my dealership and I’m considering rather than spending a load of money on electrical diagnostics, buying a used replacement D1BT module for £20 and hoping that this one isn’t affected by the Bluetooth issue. But unsure if this would fix the issue.

Whilst with Ford, they couldn’t see any drain on the battery and therefore couldn’t fix anything, however I made the point that it is only when a device remains connected that the drain occurs, and as such when it was with them there was no drain. It is just when it’s on my drive and overnight my device remains connected. I am aware it remains connected as when I play audio on my phone it doesn’t play as it’s connected to the car. Surely it should disconnect as soon as the car is turned off?

Thanks
