RIP my little Zetec

It’s served me well since 2011.
Due to age and mileage insurance think it will be a write off, also the driver side door and bonnet won’t open.
Watch out for those deer.

Sorry about your car, I'd hate to lose a car through damage (or theft).
No deer where I drive, just drunk Europeans who didn't learn a Green Cross Code.

Saw the fur in the photo before I'd even read 'deer' and though of this I'd watched the other week.

They may not be very big but they are certainly pretty hard! reminds me of a mate's father who in 1982 bought a brand new Morris Marina and a week later he was driving it just down the road (single track very narrow with fir tree forest either side) from his farm and a deer leapt over the hedge and landed on the bonnet, the deer went on but the bonnet could not be saved.

wow it’s not written off.

They said what’s being replaced:

Bonnet, Bumper, Grille, Wing & Liner, Light cluster, Fog lamp.
The drivers door repaired.

Then all the replaced parts will be re-sprayed and the drivers door re-sprayed and other panels buffed and blended.

A lot of work for a 2011 reg with 95k on the clock

9 Years is a long time, did you still love it or would it have been time to get a replacement soon anyway??

Every time I get a car I say it's for 10 years (and that's used), the last one only lasted 6 because I had an opportunity to get my ideal car.
My last car was 10 years old and I was thinking that things would start going wrong and decreasing in value too much, so took a leap for an ST.

Better the devil you know than the one you don't! If it brings it back to as good as or better condition than it was pre-deer hunt and you know it's mechanically good it's just as well to keep it than replace with an unknown entity that could give you a load of grief. One thing I would advise you to do when it's repaired is to inspect it thoroughly and make sure it drives okay, straight and true before you sign the acceptance form, you pay your insurance so you should expect the job to be done properly.

To be honest, I wasn’t in the market to replace it anyway, it’s been by far the best car I have owned and even though it’s only a Zetec it’s served me well.

My wife in laws helped us purchase it and both are now dead so it has some sentimental value as well.

Mechanically all I know of is some front wheel bearings I need to have changed and that was happening on the next service.

The bonnet had a nasty scratch on it and a poor job was done buffing it out, I was considering getting the paintwork polished etc

When I was told it could be repaired I was actually happy, it has more value to me then it would in part ex, or a check for what the insurance valued it as.

It’s been on a jig and had a geometry check which came back totally fine, the garage and insurance both called me to explain what this was.

As my wife is a key worker it’s hopped the que which is actually rather small at the moment.

At the repairers, get them to do the bearings and anything else at the same time, they can work it in with the rest of the repairs and go on the claim.
