Fuse F17 keeps breaking every couple days after replacing

Featured Replies

Driver window and interior lamps connected to F17  keep breaking so I replace the fuse only for it to stop working week or two after. When we look at the fuse it is a bit brown inside. Suggestions??

Well, fuses are designed to blow to protect the electrical circuit and components. As it keeps blowing, this would suggest that there is a fault in one of those circuits, you'll need to troubleshoot it.

The fuse is a bit brown because it has probably got hot before blowing, so something is trying to draw too much power or there's a short circuit somewhere. Does everything work OK when the fuse is replaced? Have you changed anything in the circuits it that the fuse protects?

Every thing works ok when the fuse is replaced. And I haven't changed anything in the circuits that the fuse protects

There must be a problem somewhere then, either a short or an overload. You'll need to investigate further....but don't be tempted to put a higher rated fuse than the specified one, otherwise you might end up with melted wires.

Does F17 just cover the interior lights and driver window or is there anything else, what does it show in the handbook? The Mondeo, Galaxy and S-Max are basically the same car but my fuse layout seems to be different to yours as F3 is the interior lights and the fuse for the electric windows is in the boot mounted fuse box, FA2. Maybe as my car is newer.

F17 covers interior lamps only as it says in the guide however the fuse FA2 responsible for the driver door does all its functions like locking But doesnt do the window. For some reason F17 fuse does that
