problems with bi xenon lights

Featured Replies

Hello, I recently bought 2015 ford focus with bi xenon lights and noticed a weird thing. I know that when you start the car, lights do the self-leveling thing, so mine does that in a weird way - it moves up and down, side to side and when it looks like it's straight, suddenly drivers side light moves to the left and stays there. (I am not from UK, so we drive on a right hand side). Is this normal? Thank you in advance.

Common fault unfortunately. Some wires inside the headlight unit come loose/snap and these are the position sensing wires, so the car can't properly determine where the headlights are pointing. You could open up and see if there are any obvious loose connections etc (I don't know exactly where they are, hopefully another member can help).

Also noticed the “headlamp malfunction. Service required” error, and on the same drivers side headlight does not have high beam. No clicking sound, nothing. With the Passenger side everything is OK. Do I need a new headlight?

Yes, it's possible you'll need a new headlight unit but I think other members have been able to repair at home, so perhaps they can help. If you search the "headlamp malfunction" error, a few topics may come back.

Thank you for your reply 🙂

Hello,

sorry for jumping here again, but I suffered the same problem twice during guarantee, they promise to me it will never happen again but I am suffering again the same problem in the right one.

@blistdid you solve the problem or you bought a new one? Thanks!
