Mk7 titanium flat battery won’t open

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need a little bit of help, my girlfriends Mk7 09 fiesta titanium has been suffering from battery issues for a while now, the battery will randomly go flat and needs jump started,it then starts easily for a few weeks but goes flat again,. I’ve been through the fuse box looking for parasitic battery drain but can find no clues.

Last night at about 3am I was woken up by the alarm going off, I pressed the key fob and it locked up.went out to open it this morning but the battery is completely dead and I Can’t get into the car. There are no manual keys within either of the fobs, doors and boot are locked.

Does anyone have any ides on how I get into it?

I’ve managed to get the bonnet open (unfortunately the jump leads are in the boot) so I can get the battery out of my car to get it open.

the question is now, has anyone had similar issues and have any ideas on how to find the cause of the battery drain. As i said in my other post; I’ve checked for parasitic drain, the ameter shows ~0.2A with no change on any fuses removed under the bonnet or under the glove box.

I have had the same problem, but `battery drain` could not have been the problem.

I had been out for a drive and used the motorway so no stopping and starting.

I arrived home and went into the house, came out 5 minutes later to put the car

on my drive, `battery flat` put on charge for about an hour, OK and OK for about

3 weeks, then went to the local shop OK came out `battery flat` had to get jump

start after that OK. Contacted my local car electrics man who said "not another"

and has now fitted a `normal` battery. Hope all will be well !!

What do u mean by a “normal battery”? It is fairly small but it’s only a 1.4 petrol.

the battery was replaced about 2 years ago, like for like, and solved the issue for about 6 months but slowly It began playing up again. My only other thought is to test the alternator but the nature of the fault suggests that’s not the issue Unless it’s an intermittent issue, a loose connection somewhere maybe?

Update, battery charged and got into the car and started with no problems; however I noticed as I locked up the car the radio display and dash lights (speedometer, rev counter etc) were all lit up. I left it for 10 minutes and they stayed on. opened back up, checked all the doors, boot and bonnet were properly closed and locked up again, this time the lights went out. I'm now wondering if a sticky switch may be keeping the lights on? My girlfriend has never noticed this before but that certainly doesn't mean it's not been happening.
