Disclaimer: I know very little about cars.  Getting shot of my terrible 2007 Chevrolet Kalos and stepping up in the world...  do either of these look like a good buy??  Thinking of getting an Automatic as my partner is learning to drive late in life, and this could make her life easiers.  Thanks for any advise, sorry if this is posted in wrong place, or if these type of requests are unwelcome! thanks

    I have a Fiesta with the Powershift gearbox but mine is a 2017 model, the last edition of the powershift.   Mine is absolutely fine but a lot of the earlier Powershift models had a terrible reputation for breakdowns.   Do some digging on line and you will see what I mean.   There is a class action against Ford regarding the early gearboxes going on in America.

    The Focus will be bigger and more comfortable, but the Fiesta will be easier to park and lighter around town and feel nippier. The 1.6 N/A engine in the Focus is a bit slow, the EcoBoost units are much nicer in that regard. I think for the price of the Focus you can get a newer, higher specced model for the price.
