Transmission Malfunction Ford Focus

Yes the new cluster would need to be programmed as it's part of the immobiliser.  Also worth noting the Odo readings can only be adjusted upwards with normal software.

Most people have their clusters repaired so there is no need for further programming.

There are a few places offering the service.  One of my mates recently started offering it alongside other electrical work - Electronic Repairs | AJ ElecTech | England

Hi guys, just recently had a similar issue come up on my 2008 Ford Focus 1.6 Petrol Automatic. The problem that happens is that randomly there will be issues with shifting gears, revs hitting very high at around 30 mph which leads to a engine malfunction warning. While it’s doing this the car struggles to shift up and speed up. When I turn the vehicle off during while it says engine malfunction and turn the engine back on, I get an error stating transmission malfunction.  The issue doesn’t happen straight after I start the engine but instead some time later. I planning on getting a Tunnelrat scanner to check the error code but wanted to ask if anyone had any clues on what could cause the issue? Many thanks

MK2 Focus Instrument cluster problem.

Don't put a 2nd hand one in as the guy above did, search "FORD FOCUS MK2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPAIR" on Ebay and send your off to whichever one you fancy. Shouldn't cost more that £70 and it'll be OK. If you have a code reader, or know someone who has, clear the fault codes once the cluster is re-fitted

Thank you. Does this issue come up on the forscan check and if so which error code should I look out for?

Hi,

Yesterday I was washing my car, and then cleaned the windows. Whilst cleaning the windows I think I must have had the POWER on, as I had to put the electric windows half way whilst cleaning and the doors were open giving the ding ding alarm sound. Must have been cleaning the windows and mirrors for around 20-30 minutes.

When I then finished I soon after got in the car and went to drive... but it wouldn't start. Eventually the power wouldn't work at all, so a mechanic came out and diagnosed it as being a dead battery.

He recharged it over night and came back this morning, said the battery is fine and all but may need replacing in this Winter.

He said there's a message on the display reading that there's a Transmission Malfunction but that it wasn't anything to worry about and said I could clear the message.

I've just been out for a drive and there's definitely something not right with it. The gears aren't shifting properly and revving really high, it feels like it won't get out of third gear or something and will just keep revving highly, I went on an A road and didn't want to go to 70mph as it would have been in the 5+ to 6k rev range.

It's an automatic gear box, 1.6 Ford Focus 2013.

Dear Sir

I have the same issue after a car wash, please help

I did it, I did it, renew the bad soldering as I saw in youtube, there was 10 places to solder.

It is not so hard to do alone. Look for a lot of youtube explanations and it take not more than 2 hour to do.
