Leaking green fluid? With pictures

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So today I noticed a pool of green fluid on the floor under my car. I had a look underneath and can see that its coming through a hole under the car..... how that got there I dont know!

It's passenger side at the very front of the car. Any ideas what it could be? (Sorry for the combined images, apparently I cant upload single images, file size is too big)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Mike.

Green will be coolant. Radiator sprung a leak, or a split hose maybe coming off the radiator.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how screwed/expensive is this going to be?

Not a huge amount well not over 150 pounds worse case being a replacement radiator and ofcourse fluid,

That's if you source the issue yourself, but would increase when involving a mechanic or main stealer.

Eh that's not a type error 😂

It wont drive far without coolant before overheating neither,

Best outcome is a split hose worded outcome it a weld fracture on the radiator

If you are with one of the rescue services drive it around the corner and give them a call.

I have just encountered this myself (wet belt fiesta) and while I'm hoping it's just a house or cap problem, isn't there some risk that it's the head gasket?

Coolant is usually pink on modern Fords.  Is yours definitely green?

A blown headgasket can put excess pressure on other parts like hoses etc.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yep it's definitely green.

I've no idea really, it's just that I googled it and got a break down of all potential scenarios.

And the worst is that the coolant leak could indicate a blown head gasket.

Screenwash comes in bright green and the reservoir is up at the front on these, so could alternatively be that.

Tbh I never even considered that.

I'll try to wash the windscreen when I get home. Fingers crossed it's just that.

Look at the bottles under the bonnet to check the colours of coolant and screenwash.

Well for those waiting in suspense, it wasn't the washer fluid, it was the coolant.

Just a hose /o-ring that had been refitted incorrectly after I got my wet belt replaced.

An easy fix, after a half day disassembling everything in order to access it 😐
