DTC #01 D900 but no other error from OBD2 reader

Featured Replies

Good evening all.

A few weeks back I was driving around looking at houses for sale in my Ford Kuga Mk1. With the current covid19 I don't get much chance to drive her anymore and felt that she needed the long drive to keep the oil circulating and DPF clear. After a fair number of miles I was parked up with her idling when she cut out. Thought it was a little strange but thought maybe it was something I did, brushed it off and continued on my journey.

After a couple more miles I noticed the ''Engine Malfunction'' warning triangle appear on the dash but with no engine light.

Next day I did the dash board trick to find the error code we all know and love DTC #01 D900. Did some research and found it to be a communication error, very vague and of no help at all.

I decided it best to buy a OBD2 reader. Bought a handheld model and waited a couple days for it to arrive.

Well today is the day, thought I would finally get some answers but when I plugged it in and turned the ignition on, the warning triangle appeared like it does every time I start her, but no errors are showing on the OBD2.

This has me utterly stumped. I've tried clearing all the codes it the cars history but my OBD2 just states there are no codes to remove, but there is a very clear one staring at me.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

That D900 code is probably from manufacture when modules are installed in stages and initialised before the co-connected sensors are in place.
To really get in deep you need a switched ELM cable and the Forscan software , (free online).

Great shout. Did a little research and finally took the plunge to buy one. And managed to fix the problem using forscan.

The issue was communication to the dashboard. Even told me it's not worth changing the unit to fix as it's only a u code.

Gonna perform a static regen next.
