'Clicking' noise front brakes?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, 2003 tdci getting random 'clicking' noise from front wheel area. Noise disappears for a time when brake pedal gently applied. Ok for a while, then reappears. Any suggestions greatly appreciated as all looks well around the calipers.

I had the same issue when I changed my front brake pads and discs, turned out to be the aluminium slides that the brake shoes slot into had popped out from the calliper slightly, and was catching the wheel as it turned. When the brake pedal was pushed slightly the slide must have been forced back into location which stopped the noise.
See the attached picture of the slides that I’m talking about. Hope this helps.

Could also be a CV joint on its last legs. Have a look see if the boots are still intact. If they are ok then I'd be stripping the brakes down. Most brake issues are fairly obvious.
