It won't blow air through the vents I ask.

Featured Replies

Hey...

long story short... hope you can help me before I decide to burn this car 😒

My 2010 fiesta was only blowing air through the middle vents, found the problem and fixed the selector arm that but now another problem pops... I fix it in place in the position the climate pannel is set and it will blow air through the vents I ask (middle, windshield, feet), everything is great until I turn off the ignition and back on, now it's not synchronized anymore and it will blow air through the vents... meaning if I for example select the windshield, it will blow through the middle, If I select the middle it will blow to the feet... and after I try a few times, the rod that moves the flaps just pops...

How can I synchronized the system?

Also, a second problem is that it will only blow cold air on LO, on 16-17 it will blow warm air even if outside is warm. The is full and cleaning up the interior air quality season only worked for the first day I did it...

Anyone has any idea? It's really not worth it to replace the entire climate system just to make it work as I have tried everything elese.

The voice activation always was terrible...

How did you fix the selector arm in the first place?  Was it bent or was the actuator broken?

I don't use voice comands, mine are in italian and I have no clue how to change it to english 😂

The arm was broken and you can't buy a new one without the entire mechanism so I used a zip tie and a scrue to fix it in place, that worked out pretty good.

Ah, that's jogged my memory, we have seen a few of those broken on here over the years!

I know the calibration for the Mk6 Fiesta Climate...might be worth a try on the Mk7 but I have no idea if it'll work or not.

1. Switch ignition on
2. Press both OFF and FEET buttons together
3. Immediately afterwards press AUTO button
4. It'll start scrolling through the display if it worked and show up any errors as fault codes

Just tried it.., not working on my car sadly. Seen how it works on youtube for the mk6 but can't find anything similar on youtube for the mk7, I think it's not having this option. I only have one more thing to try... to disconnect the battery and hope that will reset the climate.

That's a shame.  I wonder if you could buy another actuator from a breakers yard?  If there's no calibration they must just be set at the factory.

There is a small problem.. even if I find to buy a new one online, it will not come with the small plastic arm and I can't use mine as it's pretty much fixed with a screw to my actuator.

As for second hand parts, was not able to find one that have the plastic arm in a good condition.

Is it possible that my actuator is broken? As it's working just fine at first until I turn on/off ignition... thinking the problem is at the unit that gives the command if that makes sense. Sorry, i'm having a hard time explaining as I;m not familiar with the terms.

Yeah, I understand what you mean.  You might be right!

But it only works after you've manually placed it in the correct place if I've read that correctly.  The module (ECU) will always pull it back to it's 'start' position when you switch the ignition on regardless of where you've manually placed it before, I think it's lost this 'start' position but that will be set at the factory, not by the module.  If it's trying to pull the arm too far, that would explain why it's snapped it and forced it off.

While we see a few of these arms broken, I can't remember seeing a problem like yours before so am only guessing myself as well.

That's right.. the question is.. what's the start position? As before conecting the arm, I select on the climate control the zone that the air is blowing thru already so they are synchronized and it works well... but after the contact is truned on/offf... I belive the climate starts with the old zone selcted while the actuator starts from the default position. The funny thing is that I have a friend that at his job is actually testing the cars climate systems to work ok after software updates beside other things and he can't figure it out. 😂 Not sure if connecting the car to a tester would help...
