FIESTA REAR MIDDLE BRAKE LIGHT CONSTANTLY ON

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’ve got a Ford Fiesta mk7.5. I have recently upgraded every single bulb in my car to LED and it was only the other day that someone pulled up next to me and said my middle BRAKE LIGHT is constantly on.

What could be the problem for this and how can I get it resolved without having to take it to the mechanics?

Thanks,

Mo

Led lights have less resistance therefore suffer from residual currents.
Either fit some resistors in the circuit, use canbus bulbs or replace at least one led bulb in the circuit with a standard incandescent bulb to reintroduce some resistance into the system.

Okay I will look into this. Do you think it has anything to do with the brake light switch on top of the brake pedal?

Thanks

No, if it was the switch then all brake lights would be on.
Try a normal bulb and if that doesn't help then take a look at the wiring from the roof to the tailgate, sometimes the wires can chafe and short over if water gets in.
