Oil Pressure Warning

Featured Replies

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has ever had a similar problem with there car. What it is, my Ford Fiesta (2012, 1.4, diesel) has been showing an oil pressure low warning on the radio screen. The strange thing is it only seems to happen once a day when I start up the car for the first time that day. No red oil light appears on the dashboard and has fast as the warning shows us on the radio it has gone within a second. The car is driving perfect and I've noticed no change in sounds or anything from the engine. I wasn't aware of the problem until last week when I was looking at the radio screen when starting the car up.

It may be nothing but I'm no expert when it comes to cars. Also, my oil is full from checking the dipstick.

Do you drive a lot of short distances ? Your oil might be a bit diluted from diesel contamination. The pistons might let some diesel to mix in to the engine oil. Usually when car is driven longer distances and engine gets warm it will burn/evaporate away. Not sure how well this happens with diesels though 🙂

is the oil light on dash working? when you turn ignition on (but don't start engine) is the oil pressure light on? and then it goes off as soon as engine starts?

Majority of my journeys are pretty short but every so often I will take it out for a good drive up the motorway

Thank you for the reply 🙂

Yes, oil light is working on the dash board and comes on when ignition is on but only for a split second when engine is turned on. As soon as I start the engine it goes off straight away. It'll only be the first time using the car each day the warning will appear on the radio when engine is turned on but it's gone within a second
