terrible MPG

Featured Replies

not sure how much i trust the on board computer but hey

2.0tdci (its a cmax but theres much more responses here) reporting 22.4mpg on trip computer

well serviced by me, often do shorter journeys but usually up to 10-20 miles a time most days.

used bg244 (whichever diesel verison is) made no odds

no DPF model

any idea?

There is a suggestion in the cmax forum  to disconnect the minus battery for 15 minutes so the ecu can do a relearn just be careful to have your radio codes.

Have you tried resetting/zeroing the mpg and trip miles counters? On my mk3 Mondeo the mpg is a cumulative figure and if you just let it run on it can become quite low. You need to frequently reset both mpg and trip miles esp. After filling up.

40mpg would be bad for these, you can't possibly be doing 20mpg in reality.

Either the trip computer is faulty, or it's smoking like mad, or there's a trail of raw diesel everywhere you go!

I struggle to get my 2.0 TDI below 50mpg even on a 2 mile Tesco trip!

Haven't you had this issue for months now?  You'd know if you were putting in that much fuel!!

different car now mate!! no smoke either lol

have tried the battery reset and i've replaced the PCM recently as i killed it. the EGR is blanked too. i can see the fuel level dropping way too fast on the gauge and no it's not leaking LOL

Ah, fair play, you seem to be as good at buying lemons as I am!

There's only so much air available in the cylinders...if it's not leaking and it's not smoking, where else can it go!?
