Ford sync not working

Featured Replies

Hello, my sync in my car has completely stopped working. My car is 16 plate Ford Fiesta red edition. Every time I press the aux button it changes to a blank screen for a second then goes straight back to the radio. As well as that I cannot access any of sync setting at all. Wondering if anyone knew how to fix this as it has been to two local garages and they didn’t know how to fix it.

Pull the fuse for Sync and leave for half an hour. Should reset the module (also check the fuse hasn't blown whilst you're there lol).

I agree with the above comment. I'd even go further and disconnect the battery for 10 mins which will reset the audio unit and front controls/ screen also. Sometimes the audio units can mess the sync modules about but usually it's the sync modules that fail.

I have disconnected the battery and left it for half an hour. Also took out the sync fuse and left it for half an hour and it’s still not working. Any other ideas how to get it going?

You can try taking out the Sat Nav SD (if you have it) and any USB device you might have connected,
My Sync2 had a spaz once and after I took the USB out it sorted itself out.

True I've had SD cards on sync 1 throw it out, didn't think of that! If none of this fixes it I'm afraid it's looking like a faulty sync module.

Hi all - Ive come across this forum and hope you all might assist me further. I have a 2016 1.25 zetec, that recently had the battery go flat through lack of use. Similar to the posts above, I have a "dead" phone button, bluetooth indicates as a flat battery and no signal on the blue centre consul display, and the USB outlet does nothing any more.

I removed the SYNC fuse and disconnected the vehicle battery for over an hour and not success in getting the SYNC functionality back. Would you have any advise on next steps?

What voltage is the battery terminals now ?

I’ve got the exact same problem with my 2016 fiesta automatic……except my car battery wasn’t dead. This suddenly happened.
I’ve got the dead phone button, can’t access any of the sync menus, it looks like my phone battery is dead (although it’s not) and I can’t make or receive any phone calls.

I’ve tried all the tricks with the fuse and car battery and also holding down the systems on button and left hand volume one simultaneously for 10 seconds.  Nothing works.  And now my USB port won’t work either.

Ford want to charge me an arm and a leg to investigate.  Ar3 there any more ingenious solutions out there……………please?

I suspect your APIM is dead 🙁

As a last chance you could always try asking https://cyanlabs.net/

They may be able to offer some ideas.
