2011 Focus Zetec Petrol Stalling Issue

Featured Replies

Hi All

I really hope someone can help/advise please. My Focus has developed an issue of stalling when the car is idle, either at a complete stop or when in slow moving traffic. It drives perfectly when on open roads and ideals at 6-800 when static, then it splutters and stalls. The issue seems worse when air con is switched on.

A mechanic couldn’t find an issue and an air con expert cleared the air con unit for faults too. Please help.

Thanks in advance:

Which engine is it? Is the clutch fine?

Hi

it’s a 1.6 petrol zetec. The clutch is perfect  .

When I got my 2011 mk3 1.6 titanium ti-vct a few years ago mine started showing rough idling and stalling at lights. I found a thread on here about the pcm software update so had all the modules updated at my local Ford dealer.

Never had a problem since then and idle is always steady.

I will try to find the thread and link it.

I can't find the original thread that prompted me to have the updates done but this thread was about pcm updates.
