My car had 100 miles on the clock at the start of my 200 mile journey - so still running in. Based on what I'd heard I wasn't expecting mileage anywhere near as good mpg as my old 2.0l diesel 1 series. To my surprise I got 48.5mpg and over 500 miles showing available from a tank after I filled up. Admittedly the journey was mainly motorway and A roads but I'm still pleased. Used intelligent cruise most of the way too. Wondering about other peoples mpg now.

 

Yep.  Pretty good when cruising,  rubbish round town

1st few months ..29mpg!  Was recently getting 31mpg , normal mode , short journeys only. Used eco last few days..up to 33.5mpg. 
 

Not had any opportunity last several months but yeah motorway 40+ 

 

My ‘distance to empty’ a full tank is 315 miles ! 
 

I’ve not got intelligent cruise but I’m sure that’s a factor 

I know it will drop after I've run it in and start booting it everywhere. Lol

Brilliant If you’re motorway commuting everyday..

you’ve done 300 miles! I’m now at 8500 and still really enjoy driving it. Partly due to covid situation but I still look for excuses to drive it!

That's about the same as my normal, short journeys only. Just filled up though after 160 motorway miles and it's 465.

It’s 2 extremes for sure. I should have reset the average mpg for my few days in eco. 
 

Going back from eco to normal after a few days is like going from normal to sport. 
 

I can’t afford a spell in sport as much as I’d really like to! 
 

 

At 31mpg and full tank at 315 miles distance till empty....is the mk4 tank 10 gallons? 

Supposed to be 55 litres which is just over 12 gallons but I've only ever got about 48 litres into my mk3 when filling up. 

I would assume that when the fuel low light comes on there is more left than it says.
