Hi,

Unfortunately there is no guide for changing brake pads, in my opinion garages don't charge that much to fit your own pads and personally I'd get the garage to do them, by saying garage I mean an independent garage not ford as they will roast you on price.

Regarding guides then ive been on here since June 2010 and created a few for the focus 2005-2011 link: https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/68214-full-list-lennys-guides/

No prob link to my guides here:

@steplce74 also I see you have a 1.6 petrol focus, and id like to inform you about some preventative maintenance

You should apply some clear or black depending on which colour suits best; bathroom silicone sealant around the windscreen washer jets on the underside.

Which is; inside the bonnet, under the washer jets inside the bonnet,

This is to prevent rain water from falling on to the top of your engine which then gets inside your ignition coils and engine rotting the engine from the inside out,

Very common problem which only affects the 1.6 petrol due to the engines position under the bonnet,

The engine itself is a Volvo, some people fit a 1.6 Volvo engine cover which also prevents rain water entering the engine.

I've saw a lot of this over the years,

thanks for the info, mine has the zetec engine

No prob,

Yeah ford call it the zetec but it's the same engine in the Volvo, ford are linked to Volvo, landrover and jaguar many parts shared, the MK2 ST and RS engines are also volvo

Also the 1.4 petrol engine is a Peugeot engine the 1.6tdci and 1.4TDCi are also Peugeot HDi engines ford said they were in a joint venture to create more environmentally friendly vehicles,

Overall mate; I recommend sealing under the windscreen washer jets and if you can get a Volvo cover cheap then it's worth the effort.
