Built In Radio

Featured Replies

I have just bought a fiesta flame, and the built in stereo doesn't appear to be movable so I am unable to put my own stereo in and play my ipod. Does anybody know how to connect an ipod to the stereo?? Or if the stereo is actually movable?

is your stereo fascia one large panel or three seperate ones, if it one big one then you can get an aux kit for them if not then unfortunatly you cant. f1358534 and f1426121 both parts will cost you around £30 and will enable you to play your ipod

I take it you have that radio.

Well, You can change the radio, but it means taking the middle of the dash out, and getting a double DIN sized Cd player, and cutting the slats that go across it before replacing. Or buying a Ford Fiesta Sat Nav centre console( I might have the part around but If you showed them picturs im sure they woudl be able to find it)

the part your looking for is below

You don't need to change the head unit to feed MP3 music into the radio at very high quality. I bought (from Tesco, some years ago), a FM transmitter unit that fed my MP3 signal to the radio via a Kensington-brand universal tuner, powered by the cigar-lighter socket, which gives v. good power. 3 preset FM bands available. Cost ~£40, and a IPOD-specific version is available, which charges the IPOD while in use. My Son-In-Law uses this IPOD-type unit, after ditching the idea of interfering with his SEAT ALTEA dash, and he bought an elderly IPOD off Ebay.

I no longer use my Kensington unit, preferring the CD unit in my Mk 6.5 Fiesta Zetec Climate. The 3.5 mm jack socket in my car is worse than useless, as I would have to crank-up the volume of my Sony E005 MP3 player to almost max. volume, as well as increasing the volume on the head-unit. I could continue to use the Kensington, but there would be a bit too much stuff in front of the gear lever.

My Son-IN-Law's set-up is quite tidy, as the IPOD is clipped in place onto an air grille. (P.S., I remember the IPOD version of the Kensington did not suit the "shuffle" of that era;-- plug incompatibility.)
