Hey guys, 

Has anyone here installed a short shifter on their mk8 1.0?

I've been eying the one that pumaspeed sells and I'd like to know if it's worth it and if anyone has any experience with it.

I have it on mine. Took 10 minutes to install and makes a very noticeable difference to the throw difference.

The actual shift is a bit more difficult because the pivot point has obviously moved to shorten the shifter travel. Nothing that bothers me though.

On which setting do your have yours set at? I was thinking that I might just use the 15% reduction.

Hey just dropping in to ask a stupid question. Do you think there's a short shifter out there for the MK8 fiesta 1.5 diesel? ive been looking everywhere and i cant find anything for the diesel.

I guess its a question of which gearbox is used on the 1.5 diesel? Don't know, unfortunately, but If it's the same Magna/Getrag 6MTT215 as used on the 1.0 Ecoboost presumably it would work.

You could always email Pumaspeed and ask the question. 

I've fitted one, transformed the driving experience. Easy to fit, there is a vid on Youtube.

Set on 35. Feels way more solid than standard and not notchy. 

Best £40 you'll spend. 

I find the third/ fourth plane bias of my 6 speed mark 8 more strongly sprung than I like, presumably the quick shifter accessory makes that worse?

Still dithering over getting one of these for my 1.0 Mk8, just for fun...

The gear ratios are definitely different since diesels run at lower rpm but the shifting action on the 1 lt ecoboost on the video seems exactly the same as on my car so my guess it that it's the same box with different ratios. Honesty the throw is way too long , i thought that maybe in the more sporty petrols they would have shortened i it...Ill email Pumaspeed though god forbid now that Britain is out of the EU the customs man will ***** me

What I think is outrageous is that when you have to pay Royal Mail the customs duty you also have to pay them a service charge which is their fee for collecting the duty and passing it to the govt.
