Android Auto has vanished

Featured Replies

I got my 2019 Focus a few weeks ago and paired it to my then Huawei phone. At the time there was an Android Auto icon on the SYNC screen. I got a new phone last week so deleted the old phone from the Android Auto settings in the car and the icon has disappeared! My phone syncs to the car just fine and plays music without issue. It's just before the settings under AA in the car had it set to automatically fire up the AA app in the phone and that isn't happening now. In hindsight I clearly should've added my new phone to AA in the car before I deleted the old one 🙄

So... How can I get the AA icon / app back on the sync screen, do I have to schlep to the dealers? I also note that it doesn't have the Apple Car Play icon/app, not that I'll ever have an iPhone but the missus does.

Can't you initiate the "pairing" from the Android Auto app on the phone? Then it'll probably appear on the car again. I think the icon only appears if a phone is setup for it.

Cheers, I'll give it a go.

Well, I've been out and tried to sort this out. I've forgotten the car on the phone and the phone on the car. Re-paired them. When I start the car the car will sync to the phone, the android auto app will start on my phone but there is still no AA icon on the car screen. I don't think I'm missing much but I might try and do it all again but instead of using bluetooth use the USB cable instead.

Another thing is the mobile apps, when I have Waze running on my phone I cannot get it to show on the Car screen, when I select mobile apps it asks that the device is connected and the app is running on the phone. Both of those are done but I can't see th eapp in the screen 😞

Make sure all bluetooth permissions are ticked on the phone.

I seem to remember that without bluetooth media, or something similar none of that stuff worked when I had an Android.
