Focus mk2 2010 aux connector issues

Featured Replies

Hi Folks am new to the forum. I got my focus 2 weeks ago and tonight I tried to use my aux plug in the glove box and you get the crackle when it plugs in but sound doesn't come through. I bought new cable for this and still no sound. I took out the head unit to check connectors and they all fine. Is there maybe cause am using a USB-c for my phone or what? Or is there a certain aux cable you need to use? Cheers folks

Sounds like your socket has the common problem whereby the two halves of the socket move slightly apart causing the contacts inside to no longer line up properly with the plugged in cable.
It's a bit of a design flaw unfortunately and gets worse the more a cable is plugged in & removed.
You could try pulling out the glovebox liner and taping or hot glueing the socket parts tighter together.

Aw ok I seen a aux cable with a plug on ebay for £6 I could just replace that instead of trying to fix it save it happening again plus I would reroute it to under the heated window buttons in the compartment. Sounds like a plan you think?

Far better option imho, that's how I had it set up in my old mk2.
There is another option whereby you replace one of the blanks on the demister panel, had one myself.

Dark grey or silver to match-

If you wanted to activate the usb as a charging socket I have a guide in the link below my posts when viewed on a pc.
