Smart Repair vs Dealer Repair

Featured Replies

Hello,

My 2014 Fiesta recently got a little scratched (please see the picture attached). I asked the dealer for a price and this came back as up to €1000. However, I was considering getting a quote from a smart repair place. Does anyone have advice on these services? For example, does it definitely look inferior to a real repair or is it likely to devalue the car?

a good body shop should be able to sort that for less 🙂

A little scratched?

Smart repairs are usually noticeable up close, but most people wouldn't tell the difference.  I'd say the cost of a smart repair would easily be worth it compared to how it looks now if you do decide to sell.

Thanks, yes the issue is I plan to sell probably in the next 12 months...

I prefer to keep my British sense of modest descriptions and a stiff upper lip, despite living abroad. If I had totalled the car, I think I would describe it as "a minor accident" 🙂 Which is how my school friends would often describe their totalled cars when we were younger.

Just an update on this for those facing similar "minor scratches". In the end the local ford Dealer quoted be €800, the bill was actually a few less Euro than that, which was a surprise and the repair is excellent. You would never know that there had been a repair. The other offers were about €600-800 for a smart repair, and another body shop quoted €1400.
