Acceleration stutter

Hi. 

I've just bought a 2014 transit custom Ltd 2.2 tdci.  When driving in every gear there is a stutter or a bit of hesitation as I gently start to accelerate.   If I let off a little it becomes smooth again.  If I push the peddle past to accelerate a little harder it also becomes smooth again and picks up speed fine.

Anybody any ideas as to what this may be?

I've been told that there could have been a new turbo actuator fitted and it hasn't been programmed to the van.

Any advice would be brilliant.
