Ford Fiesta 1.25 Lx Keeps Cutting Out

Featured Replies

Ok, i have a ford fiesta 1.25 LX. recently it randomly cut out while i have been driving on the motorway and on other roads. i took the car to my local mechanic where he thought it was the Starting motor as i had the AA come out to me and they thought that this would be the problem which i had changed an got the car back an it continued to cut out. i took it back to my mechanic and then he said it could be a wire leading to the starting motor or something so i had that changed an then the car still cut out, another AA member of staff came out to me plugged in his computer and nothing came up so it was hard to find out what the problem was he then told me he thought the fuel might be contaminated so i then took it back to my mechanic and he changed the fuel filter. once again the car is still cutting out.. i then took it to Ford an they done a diagnostic and calibration an said this may be the fault. on the report they also stated that there was a crack in the coil pack. Could this be the answer to my problem? I dont really know anything about cars but i got my car back from ford once they had done the diagnostic couple days after work the car wouldnt start an i had to wait for a while and then restart the car and then it started after a while.

i am unsure whether i should get the coil pack changed as ford are changing £167.00 and i have already spent like £200 on this car and the problem hasnt been solved but on the other hand kind of annoyed that on the report ford have ticket the coil pack being cracked as amber so this isnt an important thing to fix.

if theres any one who has had the same problems please help me out because i am unsure what to do and need to sell this car. thanks

hello jade,

for a start, the starter motors job is only to turn the engine over, this has absolutely no effect from the moment you let go the key! your local mechanic and the AA guy are obviously guisers.

how does the car feel to drive, does it feel jerky and hesitant sometimes? if so then i would say its the coil pack and its a good time to get new plugs and leads then too, but stick to genuine ford parts.

changing a coil pack is a p1ss easy job and should only take a few minutes at most.

cheers

stef
