Retrofitting MY2020 Standard LED Headlights on Halogen Model

It is different when retrofitting static or dynamic full LEDs. In this case, high-beam line works as power supply and low-beam line is used as a voltage signal. Therefore, low-beam line requires 1 ... 2uF capacitor!!! Also turn signal needs a capacitor, 220uF is perfect.

If someone is so desperate as I was to retrofit static LEDs, please find my instruction. https://www.formod.eu/ledheadlamps.html

I have failed in solving "flickering" issue. I still think about the factory way to disable PWM voltage stabilisation. I am 100% sure it is not in BCM. It must be PCM (which is taking care about battery charging voltage regulation) or BMS, that is voltage sensor. BMS might be different and send different signal, I'll check this soon.

Hello, Piotrmod ! Do you have some news ? BecauZ I am really interesting by your experience. I try to find a solution for my Fiesta with the same problem and I have already read that the voltage is the problem

Thank you

I changed the halogen headlight units on my 2019 ST line x for the 2020 LED dipped beam reflectors they now fit as standard. They are a straight swap, same harness, no coding needed. They are coming up on eBay quite frequently now but watch out for examples with damage to the attachment brackets.

Can you please advise who changed the units for you ?
I have an S-max that also came out with halogen units , and I would like to change them to the LED dynamic system as they are a lot brighter . Can you advise if that is possible !?

Possible, but illegal and will fail MOT if noticed by the tester.

Correct.  Fitting Xenons or LED's into a halogen cluster is an immediate fail in England, Scotland & Wales.  (NI rules are slightly different).  I suspect most testers either don't know or don't care as people still seem to be getting away with it.

Existing halogen headlamp units on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp for light source and lamp not compatible.

I know this is an old thread, I have just bought a MK4, and will be doing this soon, I'm curious if someone found the solution, I also wonder much like it was with changing headlight housing to the led drl one on the mk7.5 that it may in fact be a setting in IPC on forscan

Solution for what? Static retrofitting in MK4 Focus is solved, as you can see in my article. Flickering is solved using capacitors, works well. If you need to solve it on BCM level, you need change the BCM software.

I'm crafting an adapter, so that soldering is not needed. I plan two versions: one will require to drag a cable from the engine bay to the cabin and mounting a pin in the BCM + Forscan. The other version will use CAN connector in the engine bay and work as a headlamp controller (this will a bit more expensive but trivial to install) + Forscan.

Hi Piotr,

How is this coming along? I've got a 2019 Active X with the halogen lights and instead of spending ~£150 on the LED Reflectors, I'd much rather just do it properly and get the Full LED's.

Look's promising!
