2011 Fusion petrol flap release

Featured Replies

Recently bought a Fusion. Does the petrol flap really only open with the key? I can't find anything else to pull to get it open. Wouldn't surprise me given e.g. the trickiness of getting into the boot. Otherwise delighted with the car though.

Only way to open fuel flap is with the key.  Do you use the Boot release button on dashboard ?  If you do not have an Owner's Manual, I think they can be downloaded from the Ford website.

The Fusion is a grossly under rated car, more like a Tardis than any other car I have owned, my only improvement would be the boot lift handle - too low, it should be on the crease line, more like the Fiesta.  And perhaps an ST version.......

OK, thanks! Yeah, I've got the boot release button - it just takes a bit of getting used to. Every other car I've had you could just open the boot when the car was open. I was hoping there would be a fuel flap release button too!

Still seems crazy to me, this, a month in. If I've got a passenger when I go to the petrol station, I can't leave the radio on for them, cos I've got to take the key to put the petrol in. Who would design it like this?

Just press the radio on button again .

Don't forget although the car is only 10 years old, it was designed 20 years ago.

If you'd bought a Fiesta, Focus or Mondeo on an 11 plate they were all a much later design and come with no filler cap or locking filler flap at all (EasyFuel)...which people also complain about.

The advantage being that a 20 year old design does not have infotainment...........which judging by some of the topics on the Forum, provides hours of endless fun !

(Sync 3 - does it have a double drainer ??!)
