Passenger side whine - Fiesta ST MK8

Featured Replies

I've recently noticed a slight whine from the lefthand side of the engine? Seems to be the belt but I'm not quite sure.

Can only be heard with the windows open at low speed and at idle.

Does anyone know what this could be?

Thank you in advance!

if you hear it only when decelerating ( foot off the accelerator pedal ) then this is normal, its the alternator, the voltage management system on our ecoboost fiesta is really smart, it tends to charge the battery only when you are decelerating to give you all the power you need on acceleration and to save fuel, only when the battery charge drops to a certain level the alternator charges continuously, but most of the time it charges on deceleration, so what you are hearing is the alternator cycling to charge the battery, try it yourself and see that if this whine can be heard during deceleration only or not  🙂

You should hear the new mhev fords. They whine!!

If I get a whine from the left side I leave my wife at home [emoji1787]
