2020 ST Line MHEV reverse camera

Featured Replies

Hi. Does anyone know if the wiring is already in place for a genuine Ford reverse camera on an 2020.75 ST line Mk8

Its one thing I missed off options but wish I had it now.

Do you have reversing sensors? possibly integrated in that wiring loom.

Wouldn't have a clue but we just ordered an St Line X 155 (2021 model) and the camera was bundled in the driver assistance pack with lots of other goodies if anyone else is looking to order one of these.

Did you ever get anywhere sorting this out? I'm interested too.

Few posts I've read suggest it can be done 'fairly' easily if you have parking sensors. A case of buying the camera, plugging in to some existing wiring in the boot and updating on forscan. But my lack of knowledge when it comes to electrics puts me off. £500ish to have done professionally.

There tends not to be wiring looms for the camera built in. I fitted a factory original camera, £80-£100 from the net and made up a wiring loom. It was a bit of a job, three contacts needed to be made and fitted to the apim module which is an instrument cluster out job. That is not bad, just takes confidence and a bit of noddle. A further wire needs to be routed across the car to the body control module. Took a little research but the factory camera with the moving lines is well worth having.

Pretty sure it was only approx £500 for the pack that contained the camera and quite a few other goodies when we specced and ordered ours....

Yeah it is. Which is definitely worth it presuming you are having a new build.

Unless (like me) the only thing in the pack you want is the camera.😀

When I ordered my present car it was only another £50 extra if you ordered rear parking sensors (£200), but now the sensors are standard, there's no cheap option to get the camera.

Surely you would want more than just the camera out of this bundle for £550 Eric?

No, got no desire for any of that stuff, Martin. Too much use of words like "autonomous" and "intelligent" there for my liking!😀

Haha, no worries. All personal preference of course.

Only one more day before play time and pokey buttons. 😆

It is. Being a chap of simple tastes, I don't need much!

Seriously, going to need to look very carefully at models/specs when I change the current one to avoid paying for loads of stuff I don't want/need, only to benefit the next owner. Depends on finance etc of course, I've seen cars that are more expensive at list work out cheaper on the monthlies.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the MHEV!😀

It's worth seeing what's in stock, and saying no to the salesman until they get the management involved.  When my wife changed her Fiesta earlier this year she got a great deal as Allen Ford had an Active with rear camera pack that someone else had ordered and then didnt take delivery of.
