Coolant tank part name?

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone help me.

I've got a coolant leak and it's coming from the black plug thing thats degraded from the overflow pipe pictured.

Any idea what the black plug things are cant seem to find anywhere where I can just order that. Cheers

I think that is an integral part of the pipe itself, and not listed by Ford, but you could try your local Ford Dealer Parts dept. and see if they have an alternative solution.

There called ford radiator cap there online for about £9 on eBay they are just a bung to blank one of the unused coolant tank outlets.

Well, I'm amazed, well done haha!

I'm usually pretty good at finding this sort of thing and spent ages looking for them on ebay when I first saw this post...tried 'plug', 'bung', 'stopper', 'blank'...  Never thought to try 'cap' as it isn't a cap...and of course searching 'radiator cap' brings up thousands of expansion caps!!

Here's a link for the OP - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Ford-Radiator-Cap-1806070/274503004498?

You could also seal in your old one with some waterproof, high temp sealant (waterpump sealant) but if you don't already have some it'll cost nearly as much to buy a tube of that.  There is also an o-ring on there that looks replaceable...you can probably buy a pack of assorted o-rings for about a quid in the DIY section of a supermarket.

Glad Typhoon came up with that !  I bet it is a lot cheaper than my suggestion !
