Vehicle Network Communication Error

Featured Replies

Hello All,

New to the forum, and looking for direction.  I have a 2016 Ford Focus Titanium (Sync 3, Upgraded Sony Sound System, Navigation).  When starting the vehicle, I am now receiving a 'Vehicle Network Communication Error'.  As I've read in a few Google threads, the Ford splash screen comes on, and then goes away.  All other instruments do not work as well (Fuel gauge, tachometer, etc...), and the heating and cooling system now reads in  Celsius instead of Fahrenheit.  I'll be honest, when troubleshooting, I opened the passenger side door / rear door and noticed water in the foot well.  I immediately vacuumed out the water, and got it as dry as I could, but still no luck.  I imagine that there are probably wires that run underneath the carpet to connect the Sync system with the rear backup camera, and it is possible that they got wet.  If this is indeed the case, where can I find a diagram of how the wires are routed to take a look and hopefully dry them out?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Water in the rear or front foot well?

Both. Found more water on the drivers side, but not standing like on the passenger side.  Took out all seats, carpet, etc.. Dried everything and reinstalled.  Everything works EXCEPT the instrument panels.

i would check the body control module connectors for water ingress. ( the fusebox in passenger footwell)
